Julius Papp, a native of Montreal, is a veteran in the dynamic genre of House Music. His role as DJ/Producer has earned him the right to call himself one of San Francisco’s favorite DJ’s. Julius has played a big role in forging the vibrant dance music culture that exists in the Bay Area today. He landed his first club gig in 1987 and he’s been committed to the craft ever since. Building on his early musical influences from the 1970’s, when Disco, Soul and Rock all coexisted on the same radio stations, Julius fell in love with dance music through the healthy club scene. Although Disco was the dominant sound on the dancefloor, musical variety was a mainstay. Today, that very same musical variety exists in his programming philosophy. “When I DJ, I like to go on a ride. I don’t like to stay in one groove for too long. I like to be eclectic in my musical selection, incorporating various styles.” With this eclectic culmination in mind, he developed a smoother edge, a deep soulful style of House that continues to define the San Francisco sound.

Residing in San Jose, California, Julius maintains club residencies in the Bay Area. He co-hosts the popular “Foundation” party with Miguel Migs and Jay-J Hernandez every first Saturday of the month along with his long running residency at “Release.” He also has brought his sound to the rest of the world, performing at such clubs as “Pacha” in Ibiza and “Ministry of Sound” in London. He continues to grace the decks all over North America. Julius records sets for radio as well, a resident for Thump Radio, which airs every Saturday night on Alice 97.3 fm. His Thump Radio sets air twice a month.

In 1994, Julius took on a new role – that of Producer. Recording in the Downtempo and House Music genres, he has released over 60 12” records, four mixed CD’s, three albums and single tracks for several label compilations. As the saying goes, it really is – “All About The Music.”
