1971年由主唱兼鼓手Don Henley、主唱兼吉他手Glenn Frey、貝斯手Randy Meisner、主奏吉他手Bernie Leadon四人組成的老鷹合唱團(tuán)（The Eagles）在加州正式誕生，這個(gè)團(tuán)名「老鷹」不僅是美洲原住民印第安人的守護(hù)使者，亦是美國(guó)文化的象徵。
老鷹合唱團(tuán)具美國(guó)音樂(lè)承先啟后的地位，其優(yōu)美的和聲上承Everly Brothers（艾佛利兄弟二重唱）、Beach Boys（海灘少年合唱團(tuán)）、C.S.N.Y.以來(lái)的優(yōu)良傳統(tǒng)；流暢的旋律與演奏為民謠＼鄉(xiāng)村搖滾The Byrds（伯茲）、Buffalo Springfield（水牛春田）、The Flying Burrito Brothers等合唱團(tuán)的延續(xù)，這些音樂(lè)特色影響了日后鄉(xiāng)村音樂(lè)的發(fā)展，九○年代之后像Garth Brooks、Tim McGraw、Restless Heart…等巨星或團(tuán)體無(wú)不受老鷹合唱團(tuán)的啟發(fā)。
首張同名專輯「Eagles」發(fā)行于1972年，共收錄10首歌，無(wú)懈可擊的和聲在此張專輯便充分展現(xiàn)。本作中共推出三首單曲，分別是由Glenn Frey與有「加州桂冠詩(shī)人」之稱的作曲家兼歌手杰克森?布朗（Jackson Browne）合寫(xiě)的"Take It Easy"還有Bernie Leadon與Don Henley寫(xiě)的單曲"Witchy Woman"及洛杉磯作曲家Jack Tempchin譜曲之"Peaceful Easy Feeling"。「Eagles」專輯雖然團(tuán)員間合作的歌曲不多（只有"Witchy Woman"、Leadon與Meisner合作的"Early Bird"兩首）不過(guò)團(tuán)員間取得了很好的平衡：各司其職，四人的和諧的演唱造就了首張專輯有著白金唱片的銷量，值得注意的是日后團(tuán)中創(chuàng)作大將Don Henley在第一張專輯只有入選一首歌，選曲上還是以Glenn Frey為主?！篍agles』發(fā)行后老鷹合唱團(tuán)就此開(kāi)始展翅高飛。
Eagles is the debut studio album by the rock band the Eagles. The album was recorded at London's Olympic Studios with producer Glyn Johns and released in 1972.
The album was an immediate success for the young band, reaching No. 22 on the charts and going platinum. Three singles were released from the album, each reaching the Top 40: "Take It Easy" (number 12), "Witchy Woman" (number 9), and "Peaceful Easy Feeling" (number 22). The band, starting with this album, played a major role in popularizing the country rock sound.
The album was ranked number 368 on Rolling Stone magazine's list of the 500 greatest albums of all time published in 2012.The single "Take It Easy" is part of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame "500 Songs That Shaped Rock and Roll".
