As the first rays of the sun hit the face of the earth in 2006, four people in the southeast of Germany decided to get their asses of the couch and make music. Bassist Florian and guitarist Stefan both founded a nameless project back in 2002 and searched for the right musicians for many years. When they met the young drummer Max, they finally had the basis for this yet-to-be-named band. In May 2006, vocalist Chris, who had been in some obscure bands and projects before had the need to create something new and joined the band, which was one month later called LAST GRAIN IN THE HOURGLASS. Only a few weeks after that, the four-piece recorded their first selftitled demo, which was very well received by the press. With the first gigs, the band strengthened the vision and manifested their very own style. The consequence was the 2007 effort "Following the River, Finding the Sea", their first official EP recorded at Farmland Studios in Freising, Germany, featuring 4 epic tracks and received raging reviews from all over Europe. In Spring of 2008 the band was contacted by a group of equally creative students, who shot the first official videoclip: With an interpretation by the directors, the clip for "1.500 Miles North" was realized. Later that year, LAST GRAIN IN THE HOURGLASS started to begin the songwriting for their first full length-album, yet to be titled. Some of that tracks were recorded and mixed in the bands rehearsal room in winter 2008/2009 and mastered by their friend Ludwig Maier. In spring of 2009 it is finally born: "Now I Am Become Death, The Destroyer Of Worlds", reciting the famous quote by J. Robert Oppenheimer, lyrically dealing with our species' tendencies of self-destruction.
Now, you may ask yourself, what do these bastards sound like. It's easy. Like themselves. Incorporating influences of Post-Hardcore, Metal, Noisecore and Progressive Rock, this mixture is as explosive as drinking gasoline and spit fire. Listen to their brandnew tracks Ice, Army of Butterflies and If Then Else (Sleepless in Vienna) and get your asses off to visit their next shows. You surely won't be disappointed.
Last Grain In The Hourglass consists of:
