在洛杉磯生活的I Smooth 7并不是來(lái)自匪幫重鎮(zhèn)Compton，他的家在Brynhurst，一個(gè)沒(méi)什么人知道的街區(qū)，好像那里也不曾有過(guò)哪怕只出過(guò)一首單曲的說(shuō)唱歌手，只有I Smooth 7和他的團(tuán)體Ghetto God（后者也是有名無(wú)實(shí)），所以，I Smooth 7順理成章的成為了當(dāng)?shù)亟诸^的精神領(lǐng)袖，并只憑借著一首單曲Coolin' In Da Ghetto讓整個(gè)西海岸都記住了他的名字，有人把他比喻成西海岸說(shuō)唱界的Donald Goines（著名的黑人小說(shuō)家）
